Never use PHARMATEX 18.9 mg, vaginal soft capsule:

  • In case of known allergy to benzalkonium chloride or to any of the constituents.
  • PHARMATEX 18.9 mg, soft vaginal capsule is generally not recommended, unless your doctor advises otherwise, in combination with drugs used by the vagina (in particular any antibiotic, antiviral or estrogen treatment ) and soaps. Indeed, they can make him lose its contraceptive effectiveness. In this case, wait until the end of treatment to use this spermicide and use a condom for greater protection.

How To Take Pharmatex soft capsule ?

Administration mode

Vaginal route.

It is necessary to respect the following conditions:

  • systematically place a capsule deep in the vagina before sexual intercourse, regardless of the period of the cycle;
  • introduce the capsule in the supine position, which best allows it to be placed at the bottom of the vagina;
  • wait for the capsule to completely melt so that the active principle is completely released (10 minutes);

  • Benzalkonium chloride is both a spermicide and an antiseptic.
  • The active substance causes the membrane of the sperm to rupture. The destruction of the spermatozoon occurs in two stages: first destruction of the flagellum, then bursting of the head.
  • The effectiveness of the method varies according to the rigor of the observation of the recommendations and the precision of the dialogue preceding the prescription. There is no modification of the saprophytic flora: the Döderlein bacillus is respected.
  • Not being hormonal in nature, Pharmatex does not influence the menstrual cycle, libido, fertility.

  • Keep this medication out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the package. The expiration date refers to the last day of that month.
  • Store at a temperature not exceeding + 25 ° C.
  • Do not throw away any medicines via a wastewater treatment plant or with household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away the medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.
