Thiovalone Suspension indication and Uses

Local anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial adjunctive treatment for diseases limited to the oropharynx.

NB : before the general clinical signs of bacterial infection, a general antibiotic therapy should be considered.

Thiovalone Suspension Dosage

Adults and children over 6 years old

Shake before use.

Because of the indications, the duration of administration of this corticosteroid will be as short as possible and should not exceed usually 5 days without medical advice.

1 or 2 sprays 3 or 4 times a day.

Thiovalone Suspension is contraindicated in children under 6 years of age

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • Local intolerance reactions (tingling …) may occur at the beginning of treatment.
  • Rare local reactions of allergic type (local cutaneous manifestations, demema (infiltration of fluid in the tissues) superficial face and / or mucous membranes and exceptionally laryngeal) have been reported. They give in when the treatment is stopped.

This specialty contains potassium. The potassium level is less than 1 mmol per administered dose, that is to say “without potassium”.

This medicine contains invert sugar. Its use is not recommended in patients with fructose intolerance or glucose or galactose malabsorption syndrome (rare hereditary diseases).

Due to the presence of sodium benzoate, this drug may cause irritation of the mucous membranes.

Pregnancy :

The presence of tixocortol determines the course of action when pregnancy occurs.In animals, the experiment shows a teratogenic effect, which varies according to the species.

In the human species, epidemiological studies have found no risk of malformation related to taking corticosteroids

per os in the first quarter.

In chronic diseases requiring treatment throughout pregnancy, a slight intrauterine growth retardation is possible. Neonatal adrenal insufficiency has been observed exceptionally after high dose corticosteroid therapy.

However, this product may be prescribed during pregnancy, if needed.
