Linked to lidocaine
Toxic reactions (exceptional with the forms used locally) can appear under two conditions: either immediately by relative overdose, due to accidental intravenous passage, or later by true overdose, due to the use of too much large amount of anesthetic.
We could observe:
- in terms of the central nervous system:
- nervousness, restlessness, yawning, trembling, apprehension, involuntary eye movements, overwhelming urge to speak, headache, nausea, ringing in the ears. These warning signs require careful monitoring on the lookout for a possible aggravation: convulsions then depression of the central nervous system.
- on the respiratory level:
- rapid breathing then difficult.
- on the cardiovascular level:
- tachycardia, hypertension, likely to be followed by signs of depression, hypotension, bradycardia preceding cardiac arrest.
Linked to the presence of chlorhexidine
- Allergic reaction on the skin.
